New Online Certification/Re-certification Begins December 8, 2014

The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) is launching a new online process for certification and re-certification of minority status that is designed to make it easier and faster for businesses to establish their credentials as an MBE. The Mid-States Minority Supplier Development Council (Mid-States MSDC) in our efforts to facilitate the certification process will allow you to pay online for the first time, using your credit card or electronic check via Authorize.net.

The new certification system is integrated into NMSDC’s Minority Supplier Management Information database, powered by PRISM©. The Mid-States MSDC (covering Central Illinois- excluding Chicago Metro, Indiana-excluding Lake County, IN and Eastern Missouri) will begin using the new system on December 8, 2014.

What are the benefits of the new system?

  • Faster and easier
  • Secure online payment
  • More comprehensive and updated contact information in the minority supplier database

Access to PRISM©:

You will be able to access PRISM© database from your Affiliate Council’s website or from NMSDC’s website (NMSDC.org) by clicking on the PRISM© menu.

Certification Application:

Initial access to PRISM© does not require a login ID and password. To complete an application you will need the following information:

  • Affiliate council name,
  • Your company name, and,
  • Your company EIN.

A unique application ID will be created for you automatically. This ID will be needed for you to return to the application process.

Changes you can expect:

The new PRISM© database will work a bit differently than the previous system (MBISYS) it replaces:

  • When you re-certify the first time using the new application, you will be asked to enter some new and additional information to complete the application:

-This is due to the differences between MBISYS and PRISM©

-This offers a good opportunity for you to update your company’s information:

1. Profile

2. NAICS Codes

3. Information to help corporate and public agency members identify you as a possible supplier.

  • Mid-States MSDC will utilize Authorize.net as our secure electronic online payment site:

-Electronic payments will include major credit cards,

-Minimize fraud through a new electronic check payment process,

-Payment processing via PRISM© will not accept paper checks.

  • Environmentally sustainable model:

-PRISM© provides you the ability to electronically upload all certification supporting documents.

As we continue our efforts to improve the certification process we thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please contact NMSDC at Helpdesk@NMSDC.org or Mid-States MSDC
